Shipping & delivery

Delivery & timing

Each piece is made to order. That means we don't keep stock — we print and frame each work after you place an order.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Most orders are dispatched within 5–7 working days of being placed. Once dispatched, delivery times depend on where you are and the service you choose:

Times are from dispatch, not from order. Large framed pieces over 80 × 100 cm are sent by specialist art courier and may take a few days longer.

Why does production take 5–7 days?

Every print is produced after you order it — nothing is mass- stocked. After printing on high quality paper, framed works go to our framers to be cut, glazed and fitted by hand. We’d rather take a few extra days than ship something that isn’t quite right.

Can I have my order in time for a specific date?

If you have a deadline (a birthday, an exhibition, a move), email us at hello@clarkanddarcey.com before you order. We can usually accommodate rush requests if you give us at least seven working days’ notice.

Do you ship over Christmas / public holidays?

Our workshop closes between Christmas Eve and 2 January. Orders placed in mid-to-late December may be dispatched in the new year. We post specific cut-off dates on the homepage each November.

Tracking & address changes

How do I track my order?

You’ll get an email when your order is dispatched, with a tracking link. UK and EU orders go via Royal Mail Tracked or DPD; US orders via FedEx; international orders via DHL.

Can I change my delivery address after ordering?

Yes — as long as the order hasn’t been dispatched. Email us as soon as you can with your order number and the corrected address. Once it’s in the courier network we can’t reroute it.

What if I'm not at home for delivery?

All our shipments need a signature. If no one is in, the courier will leave a card with options to redeliver or collect from a local depot. Royal Mail and DPD also let you reschedule from the tracking link.

Can I collect from your workshop?

Local collection from Peckham, south London is available by appointment. Select “Collect in person” at checkout — we’ll email you when your piece is ready.

Framed prints — packaging & handling

Framed works are heavy and need careful packing. We use the methods specialist galleries use for original works.

How are framed pieces packed?

Each framed print is wrapped in glassine, then bubble-wrapped, then packed into a custom-cut foam-lined carton with reinforced corners. Glass is replaced with acrylic glazing on anything over 70 cm in either dimension, both for safety and to reduce the chance of damage in transit.

How are unframed prints packed?

Unframed prints under A2 are sent flat in a stiff board mailer. Anything larger ships rolled in an archival tube with acid-free tissue interleaving.

Can I hang the frame myself?

Yes. Every framed piece arrives with a D-ring hanging system already fitted, plus picture-hanging hardware and instructions for both plaster and brick walls.

Customs, duties & international

Will I have to pay import duties or VAT?

UK orders include 20% VAT in the price you see. For everywhere else, the price shown is excluding local taxes.

  • EU: we ship Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) for most EU countries — local VAT is collected at checkout and you pay nothing on arrival.
  • United States: orders are below the de minimis threshold in most states; you usually pay no extra duty.
  • Rest of world: any import duties, taxes or handling charges are payable by the recipient.
Can you mark the package as a gift?

We can’t under-declare the value of a shipment — it’s illegal in most jurisdictions and would invalidate insurance. We can include a gift note inside the package; just leave a message in the “order notes” field at checkout.

Do you ship to PO boxes or APO/FPO addresses?

No — our couriers require a physical street address with someone available to sign for delivery.

Damaged, lost or wrong items

My piece arrived damaged. What now?

Email hello@clarkanddarcey.com within seven days, with photos of the damaged piece and its packaging. We’ll arrange a free replacement straight away — you won’t need to send the damaged one back unless we ask.

My tracking says delivered but I don't have it.

Couriers sometimes mark items delivered prematurely. Wait 48 hours — it almost always shows up. If it doesn’t, write to us with your order number and we’ll open an investigation with the courier and dispatch a replacement.

I received the wrong piece or frame.

Sorry — that’s on us. Email us with a photo of what you received and we’ll send the correct piece on next-day delivery and arrange a free collection of the incorrect one.

Returns & exchanges

Can I return a print if I change my mind?

Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to tell us you’d like to return a piece, and a further 14 days to get it back to us. We refund the price of the work in full once it’s back with us in re-saleable condition. Original shipping is non-refundable, and return shipping is the customer’s responsibility unless the item arrived damaged or wrong.

Can I exchange one piece for another?

We don’t do direct exchanges — return the original for a refund, and place a new order. That’s simpler for everyone and keeps each order’s edition number traceable.

Are sold-out editions ever restocked?

No. Each edition is a fixed number that we honour. Once an edition sells out, that’s it — you can join the waitlist on any sold-out work and we’ll let you know if a print returns to the gallery on the secondary market.
